Club Notes - 201512
The AGM of the club was held on Thursday December 10th. The large number of members’ present heard very detailed reports from all members of the executive.
Club secretary Linda Carroll provided a very detailed report which covered all aspects of the club’s activities over the past year which ranged from games and football development right through to our involvement with local partner schools.
David Kiely presented a detailed breakdown of the clubs finances and while it was a “cost neutral” year for the club, all present were in agreement that – apart from providing football to all who want to play - fundraising is of the utmost importance in 2016.
Registrar Niall O’Kelly reported a large increase in the number of registered players over the past 12 months and great credit is due to all mentors – particularly in the younger age groups – for playing a major part in this growth.
Head of football, Gordon Bell, gave a comprehensive report on all club teams. Pride of place went to the Senior team who won the Dublin Senior Championship, Dublin Senior League Division 1, Dublin Senior Cup Division 1 and – for the first time in the club’s history – the Leinster Senior Championship. They lost out narrowly in the All-Ireland semi-final to the eventual winners Donaghmoyne. Gordon also called out that our Juniors won the Division 5 league, our minors won the Division 5 league and our U13’s won the division 2 cup so it was a very successful year for the club. Gordon also acknowledged the players who represented their county from U12 right up to senior, and last, but not least, the remarkable fact that Sinead Goldrick won a fourth consecutive All-Star award.
Paul Ryan, from the Policies and Procedures sub-committee, outlined the comprehensive work that his sub-committee carried out at the start of the year; the result of which is the new club hand-book which all members sign up to when applying for membership of the club.
Derek McArdle from the “Club Constitution” sub-committee gave an update on the work that this sub-committee have been involved in for the past few weeks. Clearly a lot of great work has gone into this and members will hear more about this early in the New Year.
Next was the election of officers and the following were elected:
Chairman: Johnny Culloty
Vice Chairman: Gordon Bell
Secretary: Linda Carroll
Treasurer: David Kiely
Head of Player and Coaching Development: Glynn Davies
Asst. Head of Player and Coaching Development: Pat Ring
Registrar: Niall O’Kelly
Child Welfare Officer: Mags Walsh
P.R.O.: Ger Kirwan
Before bringing the meeting to an end, Chairman Johnny Culloty again appealed to club members to get involved in the various sub-committees that will be set up during the coming year. Johnny also thanked everybody for their support during the year and encouraged all members to help the club move forward and build on the successes of 2015.
2007’s graduate from The Academy
Congrats to the 2007’s who had their “graduation” on Saturday last. Well done to Naomi, Derek and the rest of the Academy crew on staging the ceremony. This team will be managed by Michelle Colgan next year when they take part in Go Games. Best of luck to Michelle and her management team. We’re all looking forward to reading match reports about this talented bunch of players in the years ahead!
Final reminder that the AGM will be held on Thursday next, December 10th at 8 p.m. in Cabinteely F.C. Clubhouse. We’re looking forward to seeing all members entitled to a vote at the meeting and help the club build on what has been a very successful year both on and off the field.
