Match Reports - 2004's
FoxCab U11s played Clontarf in their second blitz of the season yesterday, Saturday 28th March. We had three teams of ten girls competing on a windy drizzly day. It didn't dampen FoxCab spirits though. Last season the only club to have beaten us was Clontarf during a challenging week or two in September 2014. We were determined not to let that happen again. We focused in training on the ability to work as a unit, where no one player was more important than another and where we relied on fast, accurate hand passing to move the ball around into space and to above all maintain possession. We also used the forearm and protect to drive past opposing players, keep them at bay and to create scoring opportunities. Although the pitches were very long, the girls were patient and supported one another. They had a clear idea of what style of play was needed to break Clontarf down. We walked away with 7 wins out of 9 matches.
That's Brigids and Clontarf swept aside, next it's Na Fianna! The smiling faces at the end of yesterday's blitz said it all. Hard work pays off. Now it's back to the training ground to increase the intensity of our tackling through padwork, core fitness work and physical, tough tackling drills.
Well done to the under 11 girls, doing their club proud, go FoxCab!
