Leinster Ladies Senior Club Football Final
Sunday next is another historic day for the club with our senior team playing in the Leinster Ladies Senior Club Football Final for the second year in a row. The opponents are St. Lawrence’s from Kildare who had a comprehensive win over a highly fancied St. Loman’s from Westmeath in their semi-final. The game is in the Coralstown Kinnegad GAA pitch and the throw in is at 1:30 p.m. and not 2 p.m. as mentioned in last week’s notes.  Best of luck to team captain Sarah, the panel, and management on Sunday.  Looking forward to seeing all club members at the game.

U11 Blitz – October23 2016
Thanks to Orla Kavanagh for the following report.

Dublin Blitz U11 in Naomh Barrog GAA Club

Throw in 12:30pm on Sunday 23rd October 2016

Last Sunday we had over 33 girls from the U11’s travel out to Naomh Barrog GAA club for the Dublin blitz. This blitz was divided into four groups.
Foxcab put out three teams of 11 players each. Between each team they came up against the home team Naomh Barrog and Fingal Ravens.

The under-11s produced an outstanding performance, with all three teams excelling themselves in terms of tight-handing passing, fierce tackling and a very high rate of finishing, resulting in some very good scores. OurFoxcab girls came away with 6/6 wins which isincredible for this young group of girls.

All the girls displayed impressive teamwork with some tremendous blocks and vision from defence while the mid field and forwards concentrated on working together, retaining possession while building up their scores. The FoxCab girls, right across the three teams, never allowed their opponents to settle and put unrelenting pressure on them whenever they had the ball. Their constant hard work at training on a Tuesday night was evident throughout the matches on Sunday.

This team has taken tremendous strides forward in terms of fitness levels, team play and skill levels. The behaviour of this team and their attitude towards training and matches is exemplary. From their attention to team talks to their pre-match warm-up, this team arealmost like a professional outfit.
The girls continue to train hard every Tuesday evening and are always on the lookout and welcoming new players.

The girls look forward toFridays match, where they will come up against Kilmacud Crokes in “The Game of light blitz”… match report to follow.

A special thanks to Naomh Barrog for hosting the match and to the parents for their continued support. It is very much appreciated.

U10 Match Report
On Saturday 22/10 the U10s took part in a mini end of session blitz hosted by Ballinteer Saint Johns on their all-weather pitch next to Ballinteer Community School. Two teams of 12 girls from FoxCab competed against a very strong BSJ in 2 matches of 20 minutes. In the first of the matches, BSJ gave FoxCab a lesson in swarm defence, near hand tackling and aggressive breaking of the tackle. However, in the second game FoxCab were more determined and fought back to level the competition.

All in all, it was a great experience for the girls and everybody came away with a medal and happy faces.

Underage championship finals

Commiserations to our Minor B, U14 and U13 panels who were defeated in their respective championship finals over the weekend.  The U13 game against Ballyboden went to extra time and the U14 game against Ballinteer St. John’s actually went to a sudden death kick-off. Well done though to all players and management for making it through to the final stages of the competition. Our Minor A’s have the division 1 shield final to look forward to in the coming week. U10 game v’s Cuala
Two teams from the U10 squad played Cuala on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (08/10) in Meadow Vale.  Twenty four girls turned out to play two games of 20 minutes.  Once again the girls displayed an improving passing game with great supporting play going forward in attack.  Their work in defending is improving with more determined blocking and tackling together with a greater determination to win back lost ball.

The mentors would like to congratulate the girls for working together as a unit and in supporting each other in attack and defence.

It was a busy weekend for our underage teams in championship semi-finals.  Well done to the Minor B’s, U14’s and U13 division 1 teams who all qualified for their respective finals. Commiserations to the U16’s and U13 division 3 teams who both lost narrowly.

U10 Challenge game v’s Kilmacud Crokes

After a long spell of heavy rain early on Saturday 01/10 the weather cleared up for the U10s challenge match against Kilmacud in Pairc de Burca. Twenty six girls turned out to play in two teams against two strong Crokes teams.  As usual the girls put in a very determined performance and showed some fantastic improvement in defending and regaining possession.  Moment of the day was when Millie Aherne, who was surrounded by 3 Crokes players, displayed great composure and skill and passed with an overhead kick to one of her FoxCab team-mates. See more reports from this fantastic group of players here
